Verdict: A great waterproof frame bag with loads of space for those long trips!

The Merida 5.4L Framebag Travel is a good choice for mountain bike packers seeking a half-frame bag with high-capacity (we opted for the large with 5.4 litres of space) storage solution for bikepacking adventures.

Designed with practicality in mind, this frame bag offers plenty of storage without compromising on convenience or stability. Its large 5.4-litre capacity is ideal for multi-day trips, enabling us to pack essential gear securely within the unused space of their bike’s frame.

One of the standout features of this frame bag is its construction. Made from tough 210D Ripstop Nylon with a TPU coating, it is not only durable but also waterproof, ensuring your gear remains safe and dry in various weather conditions. The bag’s resilience against harsh conditions makes it a dependable companion for those long, gruelling rides where reliable gear is crucial.

The design of the Framebag Travel is both functional and user-friendly. It mounts easily to most bike frames using adjustable Velcro straps (that you can see in the pictures), which provide a secure fit without the risk of rattling or shifting during your ride. This stability is essential for maintaining focus on the road, especially on rough terrain. The internal divider adds a layer of versatility, allowing riders to organise their gear efficiently. Whether you need to carry smaller items like keys and cash or larger equipment, the bag can be adjusted to suit your needs.

While the Merida Framebag Travel excels in many areas, it may not be the best option for those who prioritise ultra-lightweight gear, as it weighs 260 grams. However, this is a minor trade-off for the bag’s durability and capacity. Overall, the Merida 5.4L Framebag Travel offers a robust, practical solution for bikepackers needing reliable and spacious storage.
