Verdict: Designed for those who want the mobility of a backpack with the organisation and convenience of a suitcase, the Osprey Men’s Farpoint 70 Travel Pack is a dependable, travel-focused backpack that offers extra utility at a reasonable price.

With a total capacity of 70 litres, split between a 55L main pack and a detachable 15L daypack — it offers plenty of space for extended trips without sacrificing versatility or comfort.

The Farpoint 70 is built on Osprey’s proven suspension system, combining a rigid internal frame with a padded hip belt and mesh back panel for ventilation. It’s designed to carry like a hiking pack but with travel in mind. The entire harness and hip belt can be zipped away behind a panel, transforming the pack into a more streamlined shape for airport check-ins or train compartments — a detail frequent travellers love.

Its main compartment opens like a suitcase, allowing full access to your gear without digging from the top like a traditional hiking backpack. Inside, you’ll find compression straps to secure your clothes and two mesh pockets for small items. The zippers are lockable, providing peace of mind when travelling through airports or crowded terminals.

One of the Farpoint 70’s standout features is the detachable 15L daypack, which clips onto the front of the main pack or can be worn separately. The daypack includes its own laptop and tablet sleeve, lockable zips, and a small top pocket for sunglasses or travel documents. It’s perfect for short excursions when you don’t want to carry your full kit.

In terms of build quality, Osprey doesn’t disappoint. The Farpoint 70 uses durable 450D recycled twist dobby polyester with a PFC-free DWR coating, balancing environmental responsibility with toughness. It’s available in multiple sizes to match torso lengths, ensuring a better fit — another key differentiator compared to generic travel packs.

Despite its size, the Farpoint 70 is surprisingly lightweight (around 1.6 kg for the main pack), making it ideal for fast-paced adventures. While it’s not carry-on compliant due to its size, it’s perfect for gap year travellers, digital nomads, or anyone needing a single pack to take them around the world.

With a sleek, minimalist look and Osprey’s legendary All Mighty Guarantee, the Farpoint 70 is a favourite among savvy travellers who want comfort, functionality, and durability without sacrificing style.
