Verdict: A great open-water swimming training ai at a pretty good price!

The Swim Secure Hydration Float (previously known as ‘ChillSwim’), is a specialist piece of open water swimming equipment designed for safety, hydration, and convenience. Originally developed by ChillSwim, a company known for innovative swim safety products, this float has been rebranded and remains a favourite among endurance swimmers, triathletes, and outdoor swimmers.

The Hydration Float is an inflatable tow float featuring a secure, easily accessible pocket on top, specifically designed to hold a standard water bottle. Unlike traditional tow floats, which primarily serve visibility and safety purposes, this float allows swimmers to stay hydrated during long swims without having to stop and exit the water. It’s ideal for marathon swimming, training sessions, or events where easy access to fluids is essential.

The float is constructed from lightweight, durable PVC, making it highly buoyant and easy to tow behind a swimmer without causing drag or resistance. It features a bright orange or high-visibility colour scheme, ensuring that the swimmer remains visible to boats, lifeguards, and fellow swimmers. The hydration pocket on top is designed to accommodate most standard sports bottles, preventing them from tipping over or floating away.

A key design element is the adjustable waist strap, which allows swimmers to secure the float comfortably without interfering with their stroke. The float glides effortlessly behind the swimmer, staying just out of arm reach to avoid disruption. The double air chamber system ensures reliability, offering additional safety in case of punctures.

The Hydration Float is perfect for open water training (such as the Ironman triathlon), where access to hydration is crucial, particularly in long-distance swimming. It eliminates the need to swim back to shore or rely on support kayaks, allowing for uninterrupted training sessions. Beyond hydration, some swimmers also use the float to store small essentials like energy gels, making it even more versatile.

Now available under Swim Secure, the Hydration Float continues to be a key accessory for swimmers seeking improved safety, visibility, and endurance. Whether used for training or competition, it remains a must-have for those serious about open water swimming.
