Verdict: A really warm glove that was built for mountaineering, however has a useful secondary life in winter fatbiking!

The Montane Ice Melt Thermal Gloves proving to be great companions in extreme cold weather, such as winter fatbiking in the Baltics!

Their design, tailored for demanding mountaineering terrains, but have a useful second utility when it comes to gripping handlebars when the temperature is -10. The durable softshell outer fabric, coupled with a waterproof feature, shielded hands against biting winds and icy conditions, offering really good protection without compromising on breathability.

Priced at £90, gave a good balance of functionality and comfort. The softshell fabric and goat leather palm provided a sturdy grip of the bars, crucial for navigating treacherous icy stretches. Inside, the Gore-Tex® layer ensured good waterproofing, safeguarding against moisture even in the most relentless snowfall. The inclusion of PrimaLoft® Gold Insulation on the back of the hand and fingers elevated warmth retention, keeping fingers toasty in really cold temperatures when I’m prone frostbite.
