Rab Latok tent

The Rab Latok 2 tent is a super simple, yet very comfortable tent for using in extreme conditions (of it you fancy having a really comfortable night’s sleeps!), the Latok series made by Rab, is the fabric equivalent of the Ritz of bivvies, a super comfortable night compared to my other tents.

I’ve owned the Latok tent for a number of years now having bought it second hand and used it for alpine mountaineering (as a basecamp for over a week), general camping use, and on snow – and it performs really well in each (albeit with specialist tent pegs on snow obviously). As a single skin tent, it really is a great home when you’re far away from home.

Pros of the Rab Latok 2 tent

As a 6’ 2” (188cm) person, I can sit up in it, which is super handy for getting yourself administered after a long day on the hills.

It’s also super lightweight (under 2 kilograms), stable in high winds (as long as you’ve pegged it down), breathable, and spacious.

Cons of the Rab Latok 2 tent

The one downside I found, was when I accidentally punctured a hole in one of the reinforced corners with the tent pole, however this was a quick fix with some tape and moving the pole to another area. My Latok 2 is several years old now, so I think this may have been down to age and maybe some times when it’s been stored in above recommended temperatures, degrading the fabric (it was purchased second hand also).
