Verdict: A great tasting blended scotch with an incredible back story!

Mackinlay's Shackleton Rare Old Highland Malt is a blended scotch with an interesting back story. It's crafted from the same spirit supplied to Ernest Shackleton’s 1907 British Antarctic Expedition, creating quite an interesting connection between a drink and a significant moment in exploration.

From what our research suggests, three bottles were discovered in Antarctica in 2007 during the restoration of Sir Ernest Shackleton’s hut on Cape Royds, these bottles were part of a stash intended for an expedition that eventually became known as the Nimrod expedition. Analysis of three retrieved bottles in 2011 led to the recreation of this whisky from the same recipe, which is utterly fascinating!

We’re no whisky experts, however it tastes pretty good and makes you feel like you could be there in the hut attempting to make your place in history with the team.
