Aquapac waterproof phone case
Ethics statement: We approached Aquapac and asked for equipment to support our 2017 ocean rowing expedition, to which they kindly gifted us one of these phone cases (amongst other things). However, we’re not under any obligation to write anything about these products, nor were we provided with any sort of compensation to do so. Within the article, there are affiliate links. This is a no-brainer. You want to communicate with friends, family and supporters before, during and after the expedition (primarily for safety, but also you might want to post to social media if you’re fundraising). Therefore, you’ll need to make sure your phone makes it to the finish line with you. In our opinion, this is the best waterproof phone for adventures or the outdoors and here’s why:
The case is completely waterproof down to a claimed depth of 30ft/10m (we tested it at under 1 metre and we took their word for it regarding the depth), however we do test it for holes before putting anything important whenever we anticipate that it’ll get damp (i.e., rivier crossing on a bikepacking expedition, or on our ocean rowing expedition).
The locking mechanism gives confidence that the seal will fully prevent water ingress and the phone can be operated whilst it’s still in the case, and the company claims it’ll float if sufficient air is trapped inside the case also (our advice is to also keep it attached to yourself if in any doubt though).
The case is large enough for an IPhone XR (as tested here), a passport (also very important to keep dry!), money and anything else you want to be certain to stay survive the endeavour.
In summary, the Aquapac waterproof phone case is super useful for multiple different types of adventure and let’s face it, it’s not really an adventure if you don’t get wet at least once!
