Verdict: A small, lightweight, yet powerful micro-pump that’s both affordable and great for bikepacking expeditions.

To ensure I can inflate the tyres if I get a puncture, I pack a Topeak Pocket Rocket Micro Pump - a compact and lightweight pump designed for lightness in case you need extra inflation when you’re on a ride.

The most notable things I like about it, aside from the price (c.£15), are:

1.     Size: It can fit easily a small saddlebag, or through the frame bag attachments (see the photo below).

2.     Weight: Only 109 g (3.84 oz), making it one of the lightest pumps on the market.

3.     Design: The pump is made using a durable aluminium body with a thumb-lock lever for easy pumping on high pressure valves.

4.     Capacity: The pump can inflate bike tires up to 160 psi, which makes it suitable for road, gravel, and mountain bikes.

5.     Compatibility: The pump is compatible with both Presta and Schrader valves, which means it can be used on a wide range of bike tires.

The pump also comes with a mounting bracket that can be attached to water bottle mounts on the bike frame, making it easy to carry on the bike, however I prefer to stow it away or secure it to the elasticated hooks so I know where to find it in an emergency.
