Verdict: Excellent tent pegs, if a little pricey compared to simpler ones, however a great design that reduces messing about with rocky ground!

The MSR Groundhog Tent Stakes are a type of tent peg designed for use in a variety of ground conditions, including rocky or hard-packed soil due to their strength. These stakes are lightweight, durable, and provide excellent holding power, making them a popular choice among backpackers, campers, and other outdoor enthusiasts.

One of the key features of the MSR Groundhog Tent Stakes is their Y-beam design, which provides three-sided holding power that helps to prevent the stake from twisting or pulling out of the ground. The stakes are made from lightweight and strong 7000-series aluminium, which makes them resistant to bending and breaking, even in tough conditions.

The Groundhog stakes have a hook at the top that makes it easy to attach a guy line or stake loop, and they come in a bright red colour that makes them relatively easy to spot, reducing the chances of leaving any behind when packing up camp.

I’ve found the Groundhog Tent Stakes are particularly well-suited for use in rocky or hard-packed soil where you really have to them into the ground, where traditional stakes may not hold up. They are also effective in softer ground conditions, providing a reliable anchor for your tent or shelter in windy or stormy weather.
