Prague Castle stands as the centrepiece of Prague’s skyline, a majestic complex that embodies centuries of Czech history and architectural splendour. Perched atop Hradčany Hill overlooking the Vltava River, it holds the distinction of being one of the largest castle complexes in the world, spanning an area of over 70,000 square meters.

Originally built in the 9th century, Prague Castle has evolved over the centuries through various architectural styles, including Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque. The castle served as the seat of Czech kings, emperors, and presidents, making it not only a symbol of political power but also a cultural and historical focal point for the Czech Republic.

The centrepiece of Prague Castle is St. Vitus Cathedral, a stunning Gothic masterpiece that took over six centuries to complete. Its soaring spires dominate the Prague skyline, while its interior houses exquisite stained glass windows, intricate chapels, and the tombs of many Bohemian kings and Holy Roman Emperors.

Adjacent to the cathedral is the Old Royal Palace, which features the Vladislav Hall, a grand ceremonial space used for coronations, banquets, and other state events. The palace also houses the historic Czech Crown Jewels, including the Crown of Saint Wenceslas.

Other notable buildings within the castle complex include the picturesque Golden Lane, a row of tiny houses that once housed castle guards and artisans, and the historic St. George's Basilica, one of the oldest surviving churches in Prague.

The castle grounds also encompass beautiful gardens and courtyards, offering panoramic views of the city and the surrounding countryside. The Royal Garden, with its manicured lawns, flower beds, and statues, provides a peaceful retreat from the bustling city below.

Today, Prague Castle continues to serve as the official residence of the President of the Czech Republic and remains a major tourist attraction, drawing millions of visitors each year. Its rich architectural heritage, stunning artworks, and sweeping vistas make it a must-see destination for anyone visiting Prague, offering a glimpse into the city's royal past and its enduring cultural significance.
